Summary

Obese and diabetic mouse models are valuable tools in advancing our understanding of metabolic diseases. However, working with these models presents unique challenges. Genetic and diet-induced models of obesity and diabetes are highly sensitive to environmental factors that can confound common metabolic readouts, including body weight gain and blood glucose levels. These mice also require specialized care and husbandry due to their metabolic phenotypes.
